2008年5月12日四川汶川大地震发生后，徐工集团领导和员工心系灾区，积极行动，先后投入18台汽车起重机、5台压路机、4台平地机、8辆服务车、2辆指挥车、7辆平板运输车，共计44台（辆）、总价值2792万元的设备，共出动62名赴川抗震救灾救援队队员，成为国内第一支抵达现场的企业救援力量。18日晚，徐工集团在中央电视台“爱的奉献——抗震救灾大型募捐晚会”上当场宣布向地震灾区捐款1372万元，其中企业捐款1000万元，1.3万名职工个人捐款372万元。此外，徐工2200多名党员以特殊党费的形式捐款43.49万元。5月25至今，徐工又紧急派出由5台压路机、4台平地机和12名员工组成的第五批救援队奔赴四川绵竹，及时投入到当地3万平方米灾民临时板房的地面平整、铺设和搭建工作，有力地支援了当地灾后重建工作。

2002年以来，徐工为各类社会公益事业捐款已达4000多万元，为灾区捐衣、物达14万余件。为表彰徐工对社会慈善事业的突出贡献，徐工被授予“徐州市慈善事业特殊贡献奖”和“江苏省慈善之星”称号，受到了社会各界的高度评价。2008年，徐工集团荣获发“中华慈善奖”这一国家在慈善公益领域的最高政府奖，并受到胡锦涛总书记的接见。
