China National Heavy Duty Truck Establishes 2008 Work Target

In 2008, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (CNHTC) aimed to strengthen its global presence and further advance the development of China's manufacturing sector. On December 20th, the company held its 2008 Business Conference in Jinan, outlining key strategies for growth. The conference emphasized improving product quality, accelerating internationalization, achieving breakthroughs in scientific management and network expansion, and positioning CNHTC as a top-tier, globally recognized heavy truck manufacturer. At the event, Ma Chun-Ji, Chairman of CNHTC, highlighted two major milestones from 2007: the successful listing of the company’s main board in Hong Kong, making it the first red chip stock in China’s manufacturing industry, and surpassing 100,000 units in annual heavy-duty vehicle sales—placing it among the world’s top five manufacturers. These achievements were seen as critical steps in strengthening China’s industrial capabilities and opening new opportunities for global collaboration. Ma Chun-Ji also pointed out that CNHTC had made significant progress in internal efficiency, with energy and water consumption per ten thousand yuan dropping by 33% and 31%, respectively. This demonstrated the company's commitment to sustainable and high-quality growth. Additionally, the company saw remarkable success in new product development, including improved engineering dump trucks, special vehicles, fire engines, and cement mixers—many of which replaced imports and achieved bulk exports. The company also expanded its domestic and international marketing networks, with over 117 4S stores, 900 refitted units, and 700 service stations across the country. Internationally, CNHTC exported more than 13,000 vehicles in 2007, earning $400 million and maintaining its leadership in export and foreign exchange earnings for three consecutive years. Looking ahead, CNHTC set ambitious goals for 2008, aiming to produce and sell 125,000 units, with a target of 135,000, and to generate $600 million in foreign exchange. The company also aimed to lay a solid foundation for becoming a top 500 global enterprise by 2010, focusing on technological advancement, international standards, and customer satisfaction. With continued investment in R&D, production capacity, and market expansion, CNHTC was determined to build a strong, competitive, and globally recognized brand in the heavy truck industry.
