On April 3, the SDC90K8 container empty stacker, independently developed by Sany Heavy Industry, slowly rolled out of the factory—marking the world's first full hydraulic container empty container stacker to be unveiled. This groundbreaking machine is designed for use in ports, docks, railway yards, highway transfer stations, and container stacking areas. It serves as an essential tool for shore cranes, yard cranes, and forwarders, offering high stacking capacity, fast handling speed, and efficient operation.
The SDC90K8 is a significant milestone in Sany’s technological innovation journey. Development officially began in May 2005, with design work completed by year-end. According to Liu Yuhua, the project leader, this model is the first to integrate closed hydrostatic walking technology and hydraulic load sensing, which significantly improves transmission efficiency compared to traditional hydraulic systems. The machine offers smoother movement, greater energy efficiency, and better adaptability to local conditions. Additionally, it uses globally recognized brand components, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability.
To ensure quality, Sany’s R&D team employed advanced techniques such as structural finite element analysis, dynamic simulation, modal analysis, valve group testing, and engine-electrical communication tests. These methods helped optimize the machine’s design and performance.
Thanks to the innovative efforts of the development team, the SDC90K8 combines the best features of foreign products while being user-friendly, ergonomically designed, compact, and reliable. It is ideal for handling 20-foot and 40-foot standard containers, with a maximum lifting capacity of 9 tons and a lifting height of up to 19,000 mm.
The successful launch of the SDC90K8 not only fills a gap in full hydraulic drive technology for container stackers but also sets a new benchmark for the industry, potentially replacing imported models. Soon, the machine will undergo national certification and is expected to hit the market in the second half of this year, marking a major step forward for Sany in the global logistics equipment sector.
