Volvo introduces new "V70" improved engine

Straight 6 turbo gasoline engine with a displacement of 3.0L. To improve crash safety, the engine is placed in a horizontal layout.

Sweden's Volvo announced that it will exhibit the fully improved wagon "V70" at the 77th International Motor Show in Geneva (opened March 8-18, 2007 to the public). The 3rd generation V70 adopts a new chassis, which enlarges the body and expands the interior space. In addition, it also improves safety by providing a child seat that can adjust the height of the seat at two levels and by increasing the curtain side airbag.

The new "V70" has a body size of 4,823 x 1861 x 1547 mm and a wheelbase of 2816 mm. Compared with the original model, the foot space of the rear seat, the knee space and the shoulder space of the front seat are increased by 48mm, 21mm and 30mm respectively, and the distance between the front seat and the rear seat is increased by 21mm.

The body structure of the "V70" has optimized the use of high-strength steel plates of different grades, and the overall torsional rigidity has increased by about 15% compared with the original model. The adjustment of the chassis can be selected from the "Comfort", "Sport" and "Advanced" modes depending on the driving situation. An optional electronically controlled variable damper "4C" and a steering wheel that can change the assist depending on the speed of the vehicle are also available. In addition, the ramp start assist electric handbrake and the anti-slip device "DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control)" with the traction control function are also standard.

The "V70" engine uses a 3.2L inline 6-cylinder, a 3.0L straight 6 turbo, a 2.5L straight 5 turbo 3 gasoline engine, and two 2.4L·5-cylinder turbo diesel engines with different output capacities. All engines are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and the 5-cylinder engine is also equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is also scheduled to add an engine that can use the ethanol blender "E85" at the end of 2007.

It is scheduled to be launched in Sweden in August 2007 (UK is September) and other markets will be launched in 2007. Global sales are expected to reach 75,000 vehicles per year, of which 80% will be sold in Europe.
