Working fire in Buffalo Grove, 10-31-20

This is a report from Larry Shapiro: Buffalo Grove firefighters and police responded to a reported dryer fire at 667 Bernard Drive on Saturday afternoon, October 31, 2020. Upon arrival, units encountered heavy smoke, and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 Working Fire. The fire originated in the dryer and quickly spread, filling the entire split-level home with smoke. On scene, Buffalo Grove units included Engine 26, Engine 27, Quint 25, Squad 25, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, and Battalion 4. They were supported by Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55; Arlington Heights Engine 4, Ambulance 4, and Battalion 1; Prospect Heights Engine 39; Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51; Palatine Engine 82; and the Buffalo Grove EMA Mobile Com Unit. Firefighters followed strict decontamination procedures and maintained high levels of COVID-19 safety protocols throughout the incident. The fire was eventually brought under control, and no injuries were reported. Larry Shapiro captured several powerful images of the scene, including a firefighter using a ground ladder to vent a window as thick smoke filled the air.
