At present, countries around the world have issued increasingly stringent emission regulations for conventional diesel locomotives due to energy constraints and protection of the environment. Euro VI emission standards have been implemented in EU countries in 2014. California will implement the LE VIII emission standards in 2015. China will also implement the most stringent “National VI” emission standard in 2020.

In order to cope with severe emission regulations, some diesel vehicles sold by Volkswagen have installed software that specifically responds to emissions testing. The software can identify whether it is in a detected state and then automatically start up at the time of the vehicle inspection to pass emissions testing. BBA abandons large-displacement engines

Earlier this year, BMW announced that it will stop the launch of the M760 Li model equipped with the V12 engine in 2019. Subsequently, Mercedes-Benz also decided to discontinue production of the flagship model AMG S65 with a 6.0T V12 engine. The future top-level power will be replaced by a hybrid system consisting of a 4.0T V8 engine + electric motor. Audi also announced that this generation of the A8, code-named D5, will become the last generation of the A8 equipped with the W12 engine after the new generation of the Audi A8.

Lamborghini introduces hybrid technology

Currently, Lamborghini's Aventador models carry a 6.5-liter V12 engine, code-named L539, with a maximum power of 750 hp and a maximum torque of 690 N·m. Huracan models are equipped with a 5.2L V10 engine, with a maximum power of 639 hp and a maximum torque of 600N·m.

Under the dual pressure of electrified waves and policies, Lamborghini had to choose to compromise in order to keep the large displacement engine. Stefano Domenicali, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lamborghini Automobile Co., Ltd., said in an interview last year that Lamborghini is developing the next-generation "supercar platform" for Huracan and Aventador's successors. Technical Director Maurizio Reggian stated that we will continue to choose naturally aspirated supercars, but he believes that the next generation of Huracan and Aventador naturally aspirated engines plus hybrid systems are the right choice.

For Huracan, Stefano Domenicali made it clear long ago that if the replacement product wanted to maintain a special position in its market segment, hybrid power would be needed. Taking into account the current battery life and attenuation and other reasons, Lamborghini will not launch a pure electric version of the next-generation flagship models.
