I observed a female staff member standing on top of a metering chamber separator, which was about 5 meters high. She carefully aligned the interface of a safety valve with the high-pressure section and quickly screwed it in place. After checking everything was correct, she descended the ladder from the metering chamber, completing the entire process in just 10 minutes.
At this time of year, all six production units must focus on loading, unloading, and inspecting safety valves. However, this year, the station staff no longer have to worry about the heavy workload. Thanks to technological innovation, they now use a new type of safety valve. "In the past, we used a high-pressure gas well safety valve with a diameter of 100 mm and a weight of 60 kg. It took four young men an hour to load and unload it," said a female worker. "Now, the safety valve we use weighs only 1 kg."
It is understood that since the establishment of the "Four Small" team activities at Dagang Oilfield Company, the teams have set up an "innovation" group tailored to actual production needs. They organize employees to tackle management weaknesses. The team leader told the reporter that in the past, technological innovation was mainly led by technicians and production backbone members, with low participation from other team members. However, through the "Innovation" small group activities, enthusiasm has been greatly boosted, with more employees eager to think and contribute ideas.
Technological innovation has become a highlight in class competitions. For the 25th board station, the maintenance team focused on the cumbersome and time-consuming task of handling the separator's safety valve. They initiated an innovative project to transform the safety valve interface. As the metering separator is a high-pressure device, ensuring safety was crucial. The team consulted pressure vessel technical experts multiple times, studied the safe pressure range of the oil-gas separator, and mastered the working principles and usage standards of the safety valve.
After extensive research, the maintenance team cleverly adjusted the installation size and successfully "grafted" the new safety valve onto the separator without compromising the flow rate during operation. This significantly reduced the workload and achieved the goal of making the loading and unloading of the safety valve easy for a single person.
