One of the first scenes Hank caught was firefighters and officers from one of the task forces lining up neatly before heading to the check-in tent for accountability. The image really captures the precision and organization involved in these drills. You can almost hear the quiet commands being exchanged as everyone gets into position.
Another striking photo features the Chicago Fire Department’s helicopter, 6-8-1, hovering above the north reception area at NIPSTA in Glenview. It’s a reminder of the aerial support often required in real-world scenarios, adding another layer of complexity and preparation to the exercise. In yet another compelling shot, Hank managed to capture the meticulous staging of companies by task force. Each group included a task force leader—a battalion chief accompanied by their aide—as well as one ladder truck, one heavy rescue vehicle, three engines, and three ambulances. It's clear how much thought and planning goes into organizing such operations, ensuring that everything runs smoothly when it counts.
