Konecranes receives orders for 9 tire-type container gantry cranes

During the second quarter of 2017, Konecranes received an order for nine tire-type container gantry cranes at the Port of Houston, Texas, USA. The order was a renewal order and the first batch of wheeled container gantry cranes supplied by Konecranes was delivered to the Port of Houston in 2003. The newly ordered 9-seat crane will be delivered to the Porter Container Terminal in Houston in the early fall of 2018.

It is reported that the newly ordered new tire-type container gantry crane will meet the peak demand brought by the next-generation container ship to the port of Houston. These new cranes are part of the $1.4 billion far-modernization project at the Port of Houston Container Terminal.

The new cranes ordered this time have a lifting capacity of 50 tons and can be stacked in 1-5 storey containers with a stack width of more than six trucks. These cranes will be equipped with Konecranes to eliminate active load control of the container's handling capacity before and after the container swings back and forth. These cranes will also have safety and environmental features such as gantry collision avoidance systems, environmentally friendly LED lights and diesel generators that meet the latest requirements of the US Environmental Protection Agency.
