Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire 4-19-14

Here's what Steve Redick shared:

Yesterday, we had a fire at Madison and Karlov. It started as a storefront fire, but it turned out the building shared a common basement with adjacent structures. The 2-11 was just there for extra truck support. From the outside, there wasn't much to see. The rear of the building had a one-story section with a bow string truss. I took a quick walk around and snapped a few shots.

I took these photos during my quick walkthrough. Some show the structure, others show the response vehicles and firefighters on scene. It’s always interesting to capture the details that aren’t immediately obvious from the street. The bow string truss in the back is something worth noting for structural integrity. I’ll be posting more updates as they come in.
