Application of retarder in automobile braking

In the actual assembly process of the tapered roller bearing, in order to ensure the bearing clearance is within the design range as much as possible, the assembly worker needs to be disassembled and assembled repeatedly, and the adjustment of the gasket to the ideal bearing clearance is performed through addition and subtraction of the gasket. In this way, efficiency is not high and production capacity is affected. There will be differences in the feel of each assembler. This type of pinion uses a reducer supported by two tapered roller bearings, which imposes a space limitation for the layout of the retarder. With the acceleration of people’s living rhythm, the speed of city buses has also been correspondingly increased, the automobile brakes have been frequent, and the problem of brake drum heating has become prominent. Therefore, most city buses now require the installation of retarders to share part of the braking force. If a rear-mounted engine is used, the flange distance from the output end of the engine to the rear axle of the drive axle is short, and the length of the drive axle is not enough, which may cause the transmission angle to be too large, which is not conducive to transmission.

On this basis, the installation of a retarder, the space is very small, and even less than the arrangement. Therefore, the current car chassis layout requires that the distance from the rear axle input flange to the axle housing center should be reduced as much as possible.

After the vehicle is equipped with a retarder, the axial force of the pinion gear of the drive axle reducer increases, and it is required to increase the axial bearing capacity of the bearing. At the same time, it is required that the radial bearing capacity of the bearing and the bearing center distance cannot be reduced. Reduced, therefore requires the use of double-row tapered roller bearings, designed to increase the width of double-row bearings, tapered roller bearing tapered angle increases.
