Qualcomm Releases Advanced Connectivity Solutions

San Diego - June 26, 2016 - Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has acquired more than 100 designs based on the MDM9x07 chipset from more than 60 OEMs and module OEMs. The MDM9x07 The chip family includes the Qualcomm? Snapdragon? X5 LTE (9x07) modem and the Internet of Things (IoT) MDM9207-1 modem. The flexible chipset offers edge-focused processing of a large number of terminals and systems that focus on secure and optimized cellular connectivity and Internet-of-Things. These modems are designed to address customer connectivity and power challenges in a wide range of use cases, including smart cities, commercial applications and industrial designs. These use cases include telematics for smart energy and metering, building security, infrastructure, industrial control and automation, retail point of sale, asset tracking, healthcare, lighting and parts markets.

The Snapdragon X5 LTE Modem (9x07) with full network connectivity supports LTE Category 4 and up to 150 Mbps download speeds. The MDM9207-1 modem supports LTE Category 1, up to 10 Mbps on the downlink with Power Save Mode (PSM) support and up to 10 years of battery life on two AA batteries. Compatible with the world's leading cellular standards, these modems also support the Linux OS, ARM Cortex A7 processors and pre-integrated Qualcomm® VIVE® 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO technology, Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth Low Energy and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). To provide design simplicity, the chip supports scalable software reuse across the entire chip platform, reducing design complexity, reducing development costs, and enabling faster product commercialization.

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things is driving a vast new ecosystem of smart, networked machines and everything from cellular technologies, which will result in a wide variety of connectivity needs. Qualcomm Technologies is helping LTE technology evolve, resulting in a unified scalable IoT platform. In addition to its vast coverage, cellular networks bring many benefits to IoT applications, including ubiquitous coverage, scalability for a variety of IoT use cases, managed and predictable quality of service, high reliability, and stability End-to-end security, seamless interoperability supported by global standards, and coexistence with deployed and planned LTE infrastructure.

Serge Willenegger, senior vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., said: "Our LTE-enabled Internet Protocol (IoT) modems give us the ability to deliver the same performance and flexibility as our modem core technology already used in hundreds of millions of terminals worldwide So that they can cope with a wide range of commercial and industrial applications in which wide area cellular connectivity offers tremendous advantages and our evolution reflects many of the rapidly growing areas of IoT for our LTE Internet of Things solution It is widely recognized, and this is precisely because we help all industries around the world get more connected, efficient and more sustainable than ever before. "

Vincent Wang, CEO of NEOWAY, said: "We are very pleased to be able to leverage their LTE expertise in the field of IoT with Qualcomm Technologies' long standing leadership in connectivity technology. Through its LTE Networking modems, Qualcomm Technologies makes our solutions the state-of-the-art option and will help drive the smartest end-of-network ecosystem forward. "

Delbert Sun, Marketing Director at Shanghai CMIC, said: "As a specialist M2M / IoT wireless module we are always looking for new ways to innovate and accelerate growth. Working with Qualcomm Technologies, We see an opportunity to make IoT and mobile broadband modules more cost-effective by enabling remote communications to continue to focus resources on quality and performance by minimizing upfront capital expenditures. "

Dan Schieler, senior vice president and general manager of Sierra's Wireless OEM Solutions, said: "We have long-term and close relationships with Qualcomm and the next generation of our AirPrime® smart modules will also reflect the history of our partnership. IoT modems will make it easier for us to develop intelligent modules with integrated processing capabilities that help our customers reduce overall system complexity and bring their products to market faster. "

Wendy Wang, general manager of Simcom (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., said: "As the IoT grows dramatically, all aspects of our world are connected and we are working with Qualcomm Technologies to quickly and seamlessly target Smart meters for 3G / 4G LTE modules for remote monitoring and management of water, gas, heating and electricity, enabling utilities to improve time management efficiency and reduce costs.
