Inverness house fire 3-27-13

The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District (FPD) received a call from a concerned citizen who spotted smoke coming from a home at 124 Poteet in Inverness, just two blocks away from the fire station. Engine 36 was dispatched and quickly escalated the response to a working fire (Code 4) shortly after arriving on scene. As the situation developed, units from Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, Barrington, East Dundee, West Dundee, Palatine, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, and Prospect Heights were called in to assist with the growing incident. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from a first-floor kitchen window, and the homeowners were not present at the time. Inside, conditions resembled those of a well-developed fire, but crews managed to contain and fully extinguish the flames within 20 minutes. The quick response and coordination among the multiple departments played a key role in preventing further damage. Larry Shapiro arrived at the scene after the fire had been brought under control and captured several photos documenting the efforts of the responding units. Here are some of the images from the event.
