Inverness house fire 3-27-13

The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District (FPD) received a call from a concerned citizen who spotted smoke coming from a home at 124 Poteet in Inverness, just two blocks away from the fire station. Engine 36 was dispatched and quickly escalated the response to a working fire (Code 4) shortly after arriving on scene. As the situation developed, multiple fire departments were called in for support, including units from Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, Barrington, East Dundee, West Dundee, Palatine, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, and Prospect Heights. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed smoke coming from a first-floor kitchen window, but the residents were not present at the time. Inside, conditions resembled those of a well-developed fire, with intense heat and heavy smoke. Despite the challenging environment, crews managed to contain and fully extinguish the fire within 20 minutes.
