According to expert analysis, the growth rate of electricity consumption in the entire society continued to slow down in the first half of the year, but with the successive introduction of policies and measures for “stabilizing growth†in China and the gradual emergence of policy effects, the electricity consumption of the entire society is expected to stabilize and pick up in the second half of the year. Data show that in the first half of the year, the primary industry used 46.5 billion kwh electricity, a decrease of 2.0%; the secondary industry electricity consumption 1.758 trillion kwh, an increase of 3.7%; the tertiary industry electricity consumption 267.3 billion kwh, an increase of 12.1% .
Data show that from January to June, the country’s entire society used 2375.5 billion kWh of electricity, an increase of 5.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was down 6.7 percentage points from the same period last year. The growth rate of electricity consumption in the entire society in June was 0.9 percentage points lower than that in May.
Yu Yanshan, deputy director of the General Office of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, said that since January of this year, China's industrial electricity growth rate has continued to be lower than the growth rate of the entire society. In the main electricity industry, the ferrous metals and building materials industry continued to grow negatively.
Yu Yanshan analyzed that from January to May of this year, the four high-energy-consuming industries accounted for 31.68% of the total society, a decrease of 1.38 percentage points from the same period of last year, which is conducive to energy saving and consumption reduction and adjustment of the structure.
According to reports, in the first quarter, China's unit GDP power consumption fell by 5.66% compared to the same period of last year, and the first, second and third industries decreased by 16.65%, 5.67% and 1.42%, respectively. In the first half of the year, the tertiary industry’s contribution to GDP growth increased. From last year's 45.61% to 52.03%, an increase of 6.4 percentage points. In addition, the elasticity coefficient of electricity consumption in our country has dropped significantly. In the first half of the year, it was only 0.72, down by 0.54 from the same period of last year. "This shows that China's electricity efficiency has improved." Yu Yanshan pointed out.
According to the data, from January to June, the growth rate of electricity consumption in the central and western regions dropped significantly. In the 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) where the growth rate of electricity consumption is lower than the national average, 9 in the Midwest, and in the 4 provinces (Zhejiang, Jilin, Henan, and Yunnan) with negative electricity growth in the month of June. There are three in the Midwest.
Yu Yanshan said that from January to May, the decrease rate of the growth rate of electricity consumption in the eastern part of the country’s eastern region has been reduced month by month. “This indicates that the downward pressure on the economy in the eastern region is slowing down and the economy is gradually bottoming out. The domestic economy is expected to stabilize and pick up in the second half of the year and realize Annual growth target."
