Sinopec and BP jointly build a world-class acetic acid base project with a total investment of 1.39 billion yuan

Sinopec, which is a Fortune 500 company, and BP (British Petroleum Corporation) have jointly formed a world-class acetic acid production base. On November 3rd, Nanjing Yangzi Petrochemical Bihua Acetyl Co., Ltd. was announced in Beijing.
Nanjing Yangzi Petrochemical Bi-Bright Acetyl Co., Ltd. is established by Sinopec and BP each with a 50% equity investment. The total project investment is 1.39 billion yuan and is located in Nanjing Chemical Industry Park. The company will be principally engaged in the production and operation of acetic acid. It is expected to be put into operation in the first half of 2008, with an annual output of acetic acid up to 500,000 tons. It will become one of the largest acetic acid producers in China and rank among the world's largest acetic acid plants.
It is understood that this project has adopted the world’s most advanced, mature, and reliable production technology route and cleaning process, and has adopted a series of measures to control the generation and emission of pollutants in the process, so that the “three wastes” discharged will be effectively implemented. Control, achieve compliance discharge. The project construction will also strictly adhere to the requirements of national and local regulations on health, safety and environmental protection so as to reduce the impact on the environment and local residents. The State Environmental Protection Administration issued a document on May 31 this year that approved the project's environmental impact assessment.
Acetic acid is an important basic organic chemical raw material that has developed rapidly in the world in recent years. Its derivatives include vinyl acetate, cellulose acetate, acetate, acetic anhydride, chloroacetic acid, etc., and are widely used in chemical fiber, coatings, and adhesives. , pharmaceuticals and inks industries. In 2004, China's acetic acid production capacity was approximately 1.56 million tons. More than 50% of the devices used ethylene and ethanol methods. The production scale is small and the cost is high. It is difficult to cope with future competition. The domestic demand for acetic acid has grown at a high rate and exceeds the growth rate of GDP. It is expected that the demand for acetic acid in China will reach 2.7 million tons in 2008. The existing acetic acid production capacity is insufficient to meet market demand, and the gap is large.
