On the early morning of May 16, 2017, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (LRFPD) responded to a reported smoke incident at 20729 Eugene Avenue in an unincorporated area of their jurisdiction. Upon arrival, firefighters found a light haze inside the home and visible smoke outside, originating from a small fire likely caused by a lightning strike. The scene was quickly secured with multiple units on the ground, including Battalion 51, Truck 51, Engine 52, Engine 53, and Deputy Chief 5101. Additional support came from Buffalo Grove Engine 26, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, as well as Prospect Heights Engine 9 and Long Grove Chief 5500. Some units were held in staging before being deployed.
