Chicago working fire, January 7, 2015

Here's a message from Drew Gresik:

With a quiet month in terms of major working fires in the city, I decided to share some photos from a working fire that took place at 1416 S. Ridgeway on January 7th. This was just a couple of hours after a still and box incident about seven blocks away at 1514 S. Kostner. It was freezing that day, so the firefighters were definitely up against the cold. As always, feel free to check out my website for more shots—www.chi-townfirephotos.smugmug.com.

These images give a glimpse into the challenging conditions firefighters face, even during quieter times. Whether it's a working fire or a still and box, every call is important and requires focus, teamwork, and courage. If you're interested in seeing more, be sure to visit Drew's site—he captures the moments with great detail and respect for the work being done. The cold weather adds another layer of difficulty, making these scenes even more striking when viewed through his lens.
