Chicago was called to a reported fire at a three-story building, with commercial spaces on the ground floor and vacant upper levels. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire in the basement and immediately requested the high-expansion foam unit. Before deploying it, all companies were ordered to evacuate the building and switch to a defensive strategy.
A 2-11 alarm was initially called, followed shortly by a 3-11 alarm. Two tower ladders, Squad 5A (Snorkel), the reserve Snorkel (661), and one of the turret wagons (676) were deployed. Multiple hand lines and multi-versal units were also in operation throughout the incident.
Several of our contributors were on-site and will be sharing multiple posts with photos and videos from the scene. It's clear this was a significant fire that required a large response.
