It is understood that the mechanical precision of the propeller produced by the machine tool is higher than that of manual grinding, which reduces the vibration and noise generated when the ship travels. It not only improves the propulsion efficiency and concealment of certain ships, but also prolongs the service life of the propeller.
The propeller plant official said that in the past, the production of a five-blade, 11-meter-diameter marine propeller required five workers to manually polish for nearly one and a half months. Now only one technician is required to operate the machine for 7 to 10 days. While significantly increasing work efficiency, workers are also kept away from metal dust and a noisy working environment.
The person in charge said that the successful launch of the machine tool means that the plant is equipped with the leading domestic propeller manufacturing technology. In the future, the propellers for large-scale military, civilian vessels and ships in China are expected to be processed by this machine tool.
