IEEE released nine major technology trends in 2016

On December 15, 2015, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) released its forecast of nine major technology trends for 2016. According to Dejan Milojicic, former chairman of the institute, some of these technology trends will mature in 2016 and other technology trends will reach key development points in 2016. Below a brief introduction of these nine major technology trends. (1) 5G technology According to current technology standards, the speed with which the 5G will reach is incredible, which will promote everything from interactive cars and super-games to the Industrial Internet of Things and the Internet, even sinks in the kitchen. (2) Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality After years of questioning viability, virtual reality (VR) technology will see a turning point in 2016 that will reach the tipping point in terms of functionality, reliability, ease of use, affordability, and usability. Film studios and other agencies are working with VR companies to promote the market of VR technology and its application in life. When VR technology can help change the physical interface between people and machines, its scope of application will be beyond entertainment and games, and the scenes in science fiction will become a reality. In the meantime, the application of augmented reality (AR) technology is expanding. Advanced AR technology that adds features such as computer vision and object recognition will enable interactive and digitized control of information between users and the real world around them. (3) Non-volatile memory Significant advances will be made in the development of new nonvolatile memories, which will reduce the cost of data storage, significantly reduce energy consumption, and effectively change the face of computing. (4) network physical system To meet the rapidly growing demand for smart grids, next generation air transportation systems, intelligent transportation systems, smart medical technologies, smart buildings and smart manufacturing, networked physical systems should have a high level of operational reliability, security and availability. Although the application of network physical systems has reached a certain scale, these requirements have not yet been met and a landmark development will be achieved in 2016. (5) Data Science The heat of data science will be further enhanced by the need for more data scientists with interdisciplinary background in mathematics, statistics and software engineering to extract knowledge of trends, shopping suggestions, social relationships, etc. from vast amounts of data available to make the world more Safe, efficient and interesting. (6) Capacity-based safety Security is the most important issue in the online world. Based on the ability of security, it can provide finer protection and defense for network attacks and provide more protection for data security. (7) advanced machine learning Machine learning builds models of individual learning and then makes predictions and decisions based on data that can have a profound impact on things like gaming experiences, online advertising, brain-computer interfaces, and medical diagnostics. (8) Network Function Virtualization (NFV) Network capabilities Virtualization is an emerging technology that provides the next-generation cloud services with the required virtual infrastructure, dramatically reducing the cost of cloud services and improving ease and reliability. (9) Containers The container provides the necessary computing resources to run the application, avoiding collisions between different application containers running on the same machine, and providing cloud service users with more efficient and rapid application development and deployment services. Currently, the most important issue facing container applications is security, which is expected to meet the requirements of enterprise applications in 2016.
